ATF is fully compatible with the power steering system and its easier to find when its time to flush. Just make sure you keep the reservoir filled up as you're flushing the old fluid out and you should be fine.

Unfortunately, this mounting point is a common place for the power steering pipes to leak. There are two pipes going through the bracket, one is the feed pipe, this is the high pressure feed that comes from the PAS pump. The second is the return from the power steering rack to the power steering fluid reservoir.

Feb 01, 2007 · Overfilling the PS will only result in the excessive fluid leaking out of the reservoir when it heats up. if the new belt still squeaks when the wheel is turned, it may not have enough wrap on the PS pulley with the AC bypassed.

I removed the fluid from the reservoir with an oil syringe. Then I removed the outlet hose from the PS cooling radiator. About 4 oz of additional fluid drained out. IF yours does not have a drain plug, the only way (short of disassembling the unit) to get the fluid out is through the fill hole. If you are saying it is coming out the top of the reservoir, the problem is that there is air in the power steering system. When you run the engine the fluid gets pumped into the rack where any movement tries to turn it to foam, forcing the fluid out of the reservoir. It also makes noise. Power steering systems are often hard to burp.
